We've made a lot of changes and have undergone some VERY much needed reconstruction and updates, so feel free to look around and give it a gander! If you're new here (like many of you probably are) let us explain a bit about what all "this" actually is. Careful, it's VERY thorough.
WHAT is theREDr?
theREDr is a lot of things: a graphic novel series, a clothing line, fine art exhibitions, custom collectable figures, just to name but a few. But above all "theREDr" has become a movement, crossing boundaries and barriers of different art forms, cultures, markets, beliefs, world views and ways of life. "theREDr" literally refers to the "®" logo from the title of the graphic novel series REVELATIONS, the mini series that started the whole thing (a 3 part mini series tackling huge topics of faith, politics, prophecy, and eschatology). From these books spring forth all the things under the Revelations and theREDr umbrella.
WHEN is theREDr?
The year is 2001 an artist named Jerrell Conner is finishing his studies at Otis college of art and design, when a major shift happens in his final project. Half way through his senior thesis, his joint collaboration, cross-major project falls through as other members decide to move in different direction (this turns out to be a major blessing). He regroups and finds a new project that sparks his interest. He takes on a very short biblical story touching on the end times. The project is a HUGE undertaking, so he focuses on a small portion of the story line, and only does a short mock presentation for it (as if it was a full feature animated film); complete with movie posters, concept art, with a sculpture of one of the main characters slowly rotating on a hand crafted display table, and the pièce de résistance a 3 minute long animated trailer (from the nonexistent movie) projecting on the wall next to it.
Flash forward to 2003: after leaving the project behind and moving on to other endeavors some how Revelations pulls Jerrell back in. Questions from "fans" about what is happening with the story and animation, sparks his interest yet again. After much thought (and Prayer) the project was back, however manifest in a completely different form. Since there was no way for him (by his lonesome) to do the full on epic animation that the project required, he focused on developing the story and characters more fully and bringing them into the world of comics (a childhood revisited), where the hope was to finish 3 titles and then move on the movie property.
Today book 1 has been out for a few years and has gained some minor acclaim (and has been joined more recently by a few other titles giving more depth and insight to the characters, the concept designs and process, and some additional background story development to amplify the reader's understanding of this Revelations world). The artist/writer/creator is still at work on book 2 and is enduring through the crazy juggling act that managing all the different faces this project has taken on over the years!
The future: well, we know... But YOU'LL just have to wait and see...Don't worry it'll be good.
